Swan Lake First Nation is located in South Central Manitoba. The people of the community are Anishinabe and our native language is Saulteaux. Swan Lake First Nation is also a member nation of the Dakota Ojibway Tribal Council. The community has approximately 1100-1150 members, of about half of which live in the community and the other half who live in other communities, provinces, or countries.
Serving the Communities of Northeast Manitoba

assist the ten Northeast communities of Manitoba to achieve self reliance
through planning, development and the implementation of economic
and small business initiatives."
In 1986, the Northwest Community Futures Development corporation in northwestern Manitoba was established making it the oldest such Development corporation in Canada today.

Currently there are numerous projects that are being undertaken to expand the economy of this region of manitoba.
The Dakota Ojibway Community Futures Development Corporation (DOCFDC) is mandated to assist and promote local economic development initiatives within the Dakota Ojibway Tribal Council Region.
BIRDTAIL SIOUX FIRST NATION 
 
Birdtail Sioux First Nation is a Dakota Nation and is located 50 kilometres north of Virden, Manitoba. The beautiful nature and country that surrounds and is part of Birdtail's most prized possession, the land.
CANUPAWAKPA DAKOTA NATION  
 
Canupawakpa Dakota Nation lies 30 kilometers south of Virden, Manitoba and 6 kilometers north of Pipestone, Manitoba. There are many advantages of the opportunities to vilify the residents of
Canupawkpa due to the small municipalities that are located a small distance away from the community.
DAKOTA PLAINS WAHPETON NATION  
 
Dakota Plains is located 30 kilometers southwest of Portage La Prairie, Manitoba. The community is situated beside the Long Plain First Nation. Dakota Nation enjoys many conveniences due to year round road access. The unique characteristics of the Dakota Plains First Nation have allowed the people to amplify the beautiful landscape and to seek the vision of its full economic development potential.

Long Plain First Nation

Located in the Central Plains region of Manitoba, Canada this vibrant Ojibway community hosts a number of events throughout the year, are involved in capital and local projects and work hard to maintain and build a quality of life for their community. Located south west of Portage la Prairie, along the Assiniboine River.
Long Plain also has Reserve Land adjoining the City of Portage la Prairie, the location of Rufus Prince Building and the site of the Indian Residential School Museum of Canada and Arrowhead Portage Gas Bar & Convenience Store as well as administrative offices. 

Roseau River First Nation

Roseau River First Nation is located approximately 80km south of Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Roseau River Rapids is located approximately 25km east of Roseau River First Nation.

Sandy Bay First Nation

The Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation is situated on Reserve No. 5, a 16,456 acre site on the western shore of Lake Manitoba. It is 165 kilometres northwest of Winnipeg and 90 kilo metres from Portage la Prairie. The reserve is accessible by all?]weather roads via provincial highways #16 and #50 north from Portage la Prairie. The reserve is comprised of one parcel of land with an area of 16, 456 acres. Located in the lowlands with a gentle rise westward from Lake Manitoba. Most of the shoreline along the lake consists of a fine sand beach bordered by Balsam Popular and Trembling Aspen. A bog and marshland run alongside and into the lake. Sandy Bay Beach creates a beautiful summer atmosphere, where in the summer, you can see people swimming all along the beach as far as your eye can see. The location gives the community the opportunity to walk to the beach for a swim on a hot day.
Sioux Valley Dakota Nation

Sioux Valley Dakota Nation is located forty-five minute drive west of the city of Brandon, and one kilometres north of the Trans Canada Highway #1.
