Location
Swan Lake First Nation is located in South Central Manitoba. The people of the community are Anishinabe and our native language is Saulteaux. Swan Lake First Nation is also a member nation of the Dakota Ojibway Tribal Council. The community has approximately 1100-1150 members, of about half of which live in the community and the other half who live in other communities, provinces, or countries.

Governance
Swan Lake First Nation is a signatory to Treaty No. 1 which was signed in 1871. The community is governed by an elected Chief & Council. Elections are held bi-annually and all community members are now eligible to vote in elections regardless of their residency.

Economy
The community is located in a prime area for farming and is one of the many ways revenue is generated for the community. Swan Lake First Nation also owns a buffalo ranch within the community and a ranch located near Carberry, Manitoba.
Within the community, we have our own school, Child & Family Services, daycare, water treatment facility, fire hall, rec centre, health centre, community hall, VLT Lounge, and much more. We also host an annual competition Powwow with visitors from across Canada and the United States.
